Sorry. Again. I suck at updating lately. I need to get on that. I basically had an un-thrilling weekend, but I enjoyed it. I’m writing in my world lit class right now. I kind of hate when people start things with “Now” as in “Now blah blah is a cool guy”. This happens a lot in the bible which we are reading. I read this pretty closely, so I don’t feel bad writing.
Saturday was a rather low key day. I came home from Danny’s and hung out for a while. We had a kitchen completed when I got home. It was wonderful! Our sink is working and no longer leaks! Woo!! That night I went over to Morgan’s for movie night. We watched Tron, which is a movie made in the 80’s that is set in the FUTURE, aka 2003. It’s all very surreal and set inside of computers for a lot of it. There is spandex and black lights and glowing suits and computer jokes. It’s horrendous. I enjoyed it. After the movie we hung out, I made cookies because I had an urge to do so. Morgan’s dad was happy about that. After a while we played Scategories and that lasted until 2 or so in the morning and I got home around 3 in the morning. Thank god I had the car.
Sunday was SUPER BOWL SUNDAY! (read that like a crazy announcer) and Shan said she might want to do something, but ended up hanging out with Gabe instead. I hung out with mom, and it was nice. She got avocados and made some guacamole, which was great. I love guacamole! We decided to have a bake off while watching the Super Bowl since we both had apple cake recipes we wanted to try. Mine was a lemony cakey cake, and mom’s was more cinnamon and moist appley. They were both good and I actually like both of them a lot. Probably mom’s is better since I like apples a lot. Mine is more of a tea cake, but it is yummy. I was happy. We should have more bake offs I think : )
Monday was really low key. I watched Buffy all day and read for world lit and my research class. I hope I can figure out that research class tomorrow. I need a ride up though. Maybe Shan will drive me since we’re hanging out. Speaking of Shan, I am super excited to get out of this class because we are going to College Town for pizza and gelato! More on my day later. I swear <3

Yesterday was Friday and Friday means GAME NIGHT. I was pretty excited about that from the moment I woke up. I made some plans with Shannon, got up, and took a shower. She came over after a bit and we went out for breakfast at LuLu’s Bread and Bagel. I love going to LuLu’s so much. I got a honey oat bagel with smoked salmon spread. It was absolutely fantastic. The sweetness of the bagel and the savory flavor from the spread combine to make awesome happen. I was really happy because the last two or three times I went there they forgot to give me salmon spread and I just got cream cheese. I just kept trying and finally, yesterday, they got it right.
After LuLu’s we went over to Magic Carpet because it was First Friday, and that means they were doing special stuff all day. We thought about getting some henna and doing that last night, but we had other plans to bake stuff. We went over to Shan’s and made some pancakes to bribe her Dad into letting her stay out all night. We also made some cookies just because cookies are rad. We headed out to game night at the University and played about 4 hours of Left 4 Dead 2. That was kind of a blast. I really like that game, but it got a little tiring towards the end.
Baking didn’t actually end up happening at Danny’s. We ended up just hanging out and chatting for a while with people. There was a tickle fight that I did not start. They played Hero’s of Newearth and I chatted with Logan and Shan. After they were tired of that and had been tickled out we ended up watching Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which I had never seen. That movie was somewhat confusing in parts because I wasn’t watching the whole time, but it seemed like it would have been a good movie if I watched it alone. Some of the fight scenes were kind of surreal. It’s like they had a huge wired set and were like MAN what movie can we make here?! Time to feed myself. Toodles!

I love thursdays. I always have. Thursdays are probably the best day of the week. On days my dad is in town it’s his saturday (first day off). He works four tens and is off thursday-saturday, so thursdays are always days I get to see him. He’s out of town this week, so that isn’t true right now, but thursdays are still MY friday!
Today was pretty great. I woke up with enough sleep around 10 and watched the guys finish the counter tops over my bowl of cereal. Hopefully that was the last bowl of cereal I’ll be eating out of a plastic bowl for a while. We now have COUNTERTOP! All that needs to happen is hook up the sink. That will probably happen saturday -crosses fingers- because dad gets back saturday morning. He’s out of town on union stuff again. They keep stealing him away on his days off and then making him work his normal four tens. I think he’s starting to get tired of it. I’m really excited to be able to bake again soon. I’m going to bake all day one of these days.
School was alright, I went to English Club after Art Appreciation and it was just Cody, Logan, and I again, so we just ate lunch together up there and hung out. It was fun. I think we’re going to try to start a writing support group aside from the normal English Club that never exists. I’ve been really missing a writing group since NaNoWriMo ended, and they both seem enthused. Hopefully I can relay more as it takes form.
Poetry was fun, I got to share my mildly explicit poem that I bastardized into my own with a different meaning. I kind of really enjoyed that exercise. It took a little bit to get over the fact that I was chewing up someone else’s poem and spitting out my own shitty version of it. I ended up thinking of it as a retelling and homage to the original and it made me feel a bit better. Almost fell asleep in World Lit, as always, but actually at one point, the teacher said, “We’ve got trouble, right here in Uruk City”, so I replied, “with a capitol T and that rhymes with G and that stands for Gilgamesh?” and was also the only person laughing in that class. I thought it was epic. Highlight of my day.
Shan came to pick me up after class and we went out for pad thai, like we do. I think I need to not eat at pad thai for a month or so. I’ve had it way too often lately. We had fun and it was yummy though. We had time to kill so Shan suggested we go get doughnuts cause she had to buy lactose pills anyways. We did that and then headed over to CCH for the Junior Funny Fest night they were doing as kind of a kick off thing? I’m not sure. It was to feature some of the veterans. We went there and listened to some kids to comedy. Two people I knew already, Laurel Gangloff and Ben Galami did stand up and about killed me. Also, the barista offered me marshmallows in my hot chocolate. What a great day!
Shan came over and hung out a bit. I read her my latest poem that we’re going to workshop on tuesday, and I’m pretty excited for my day tomorrow. I hope you all have a lovely day tomorrow. Stay warm! (It’s almost -20 highs lately.)

Have you ever gotten owled? I am an owl today. My hair is doing the owl thing. I attempted to take a picture for you, but my normal face looks dead and my owl face is terrifying. So I quit. I just don’t care about what my hair does. That’s why I keep it short now.
LOOK WHAT SOMEONE SHOWED ME IN CHOIR! Bad Romance has been in my head on and off for a while now and that video about killed me. If you aren’t going to watch it… just watch the first bit at least. You know… I almost started explaining it, but I’m not going to. I will just say that the “gloves” bit KILLED me the first time I saw it.
Today started very unmotivated. I got up, skipped breakfast since it was like noon and hey I can choose what meal I want to eat whenever. I am my own woman! So I made the meatiest sandwich possible and ate it while watching QAF downstairs. I finished all of that and was kind of sad, so I went back to bed and read some comics and posted about yesterday. I started talking to people online and ended up talking to Heather about Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She really recommended it and Peter had previously, so I agreed to go up there after dinner and get it from her. That gave me a purpose for my day and I got up and took a shower. I even went and read all my World Lit material. I did it sitting in front of the happy light in the sewing room in hopes of upping my Vitamin D intake to counter act the lack of sun that is helping with the February Slump. (That sounds like a dance. A really depressing dance.) I already take “sunny gummies”, which are delicious btw and I totally suggest them, which are my Vitamin D supplement. I take a normal multivitamin with iron, but we need extra Vitamin D, especially in the winter… especially here.
We had chowder for dinner, which was nice. I really like chowder. Then I headed up to Heather and John’s place. It’s a pretty nice space in the cabin. Not particularly big, but it’s definitely big enough for them. That was really nice hanging out and talking with them for a few hours. Heather and I are busy and unmotivated at trying to hang out together, so we don’t hang out much. Today was a treat. I came home and watched an episode of Buffy, cut myself off, and just finished rewriting a legitimate poet’s interesting poem for an assignment. I feel a little unclean about it. Hopefully I did an alright job doing it and I don’t have to read the original out loud. Plus it’s another long poem and other people don’t do that. I’ve written two reasonably long poems so far and I’m not sure where the class is headed. We’ll see. Time to sleep off my guilt of remaking someone’s work. Gnight.

Yesterday was FUCK-ALL TUESDAY as I’m now renaming the day. Tuesday is choir night, so I’m at the U for ungodly amounts of time. All fucking day in fact. That means I get very little done, and feel exhausted all day because I was up the night before finishing work. Got about four hours of sleep the night before and then ended up going CRAZY. All day I was hallucinating and falling asleep in Art Appreciation and World Lit.
Poetry was a blast, as usual, I turned in my poem for workshop next week and we workshopped the other half of the classes work. That was really fun, because a couple poems that I didn’t even like before became really good when we talked about them more. It’s also nice because it forces me to be positive instead of criticizing other people’s work to death. What can I say? I love editing. I have to go read some world lit and do an exercise for poetry.
Choir was better than I thought it would be, I almost fell asleep singing though, because one song is incredibly slow. Beautiful, but oh dear lord. It’s cause we’re learning it right now and it is in Church Slavonic, so we aren’t singing words right now, just sounds, so it was incredibly tiring. Some of the other ones kicked my throat though. One goes really high and I kind of hope I have to do it. It’s a blast to be challenged. I came home, watched some QAF. I finished the last episode today by the way. That show gets me every time. I love it. It cheered me up a bit today, but now that it’s over I need something else to fill that void. Heather and Peter suggested Buffy, so I’m going to go collect it from her tonight. I’m almost excited, but very apprehensive.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that I’ve been feeling crummy the last week or so. It’s that time of year, when the world gets depressed, every song you hear, seems to say, “your life is doomed, why are you wasting time”. And this song of mine, in three quarter time, is getting sick of it too. (See what I did there? Rewrote a christmas song. COMEDY GOLD.) Seriously though. February sucks balls. It’s like the time of year where my brain gives up. I make it through the whole winter without crushing depression and then it sneaks in in February. There is so much weighing me down that some of it is bound to slip through. So, I’m sorry if I don’t post on time, or blow your mind with posts of my fantastic adventures, but it’s February in Fairbanks. That means it is slow, and frustrating, and tiring. This may show through. Doesn’t mean I don’t love you.

Today I had to go up to the U for a meeting with Judy Kleinfeld about our research. I still have problems with this class that is supposed to exist. I couldn’t find it on the website. She told me it was there and to try again. I talked to the registrar, they told me where to look, but weren’t very helpful. I looked again, it wasn’t there. They said I have to get CLA and Judy to make it exist, so I emailed her and she is hopefully getting it straightened out by tomorrow. I already have late fees because I need to pay for my classes and had to do that by Friday. I also couldn’t drop my Communications class yet because I didn’t have the other class to replace it and then I’d be under full time student, and who knows what they do to me then. So, I had to deal with this huge bureaucratic fiasco today, but I think it’s on it’s way to being figured out.
I had to be up there for a while figuring that out and then Mom picked me up after work and drove me home. I was pretty hungry, and I suggested that we have french toast for dinner. Mom was enthused, and that means I don’t have to have steak because they’re having it tomorrow night now. … I just don’t like steak very much. That was probably the best french toast I’ve had in a long time, though. I’m excited to bring it to lunch tomorrow : )
It’s now four in the morning and I finally got all my shit done. Even wrote a poem I don’t hate today. I don’t have to read this one out loud, so it’s no big deal. I have to do some things before classes tomorrow, but I have to be on campus early anyways, so no big deal. Long day tomorrow, so time to get a healthy four hours of sleep. Gnight.

I woke up at Amber’s house, which was very comfy. I was completely exhausted and didn’t get out of bed until it was time to leave and take Julia home. I came home, took care of business, and TOOK. A. SHOWER. Dear lord. I felt so awful and grungy after being sweaty and dancing. I was so grateful that Amber leant me some clothes to sleep in.
Max finished packing and it was around dinner time for everyone involved, so he picked up Scott and headed to pick me up. I wanted to go to college town pizza, but it’s closed on sundays. We went to Pad Thai… one of the only places, and the ONLY thai place open on sunday. And that is really saying something, because there are easily over 9 thai places in the city of Fairbanks alone. That was delicious. We had curry and some kind of beef thing and egg rolls. I love their egg rolls. I’m still craving some pizza though. Maybe someone will be my hero and take me tuesday if Shan is still feeling crummy. She needs to get better! I worry about her! <3
So we stopped by Shannon’s actually, speaking of her… and hung out in her room with her a while. Max’s fat ass made her mattress fall out of the frame in one corner. That was hilarious. It seriously looked broken. We made a pile and looked at silly internet pictures. BTW THIS IS HILARIOUS. I laughed for like ten minutes straight.
After a while max had to go home, he dropped me off so I could meet him at the airport in an hour or so, and took Scott home so he could finish his homework. I had an apple and fussed around, then went to the airport to see him off. We sat around in the lobby together for a while.
Max and I’s conclusion of today? If I get two cats in the future… I want an exotic named Wilford, after Wilford Brimley, the guy on Liberty Medical commercials and he pronounces diabetes, “diabeetus” (apparently he was a legit actor at one point), because he looks like one and it’s hilarious. And the other cat will be a Scottish Fold named Adolph, because a man at PetCo once told Max that all cats are Hitler. ALL CATS ARE HITLER. And that anyone could be Hitler. This seems like it’s almost an inspirational comment… “You too, can be Hitler, if you only belieeeeeeve!” So, in honor of the crazy PetCo guy and the internet, my cat would be named Adolph. It would be a Scottish Fold because they are SO DARN CUTE. (I love the “blue” ones.) These are marvelous reasons to name my future cats, but also? those are just great names. I need to stop talking about my vast love of cats with people, because I am one social recluse away from being a crazy cat lady at this point. Here’s an adorable picture of Buddy, my kitty cat, for the record.
Max is flying away from me now, back to San Fran and lovely temperatures. I need to sleep because I have an important business meeting to attend to in the afternoon. Good night.

Yesterday was senior ball for West Valley. Bobby bought me a ticket. He is such a gentleman and I love him. The plan was to meet up at Emily’s beforehand and have a potluck. I had to go home and finish my dress, so Max took me home from Logan’s. I got clean and started figuring out how to do my dress. Max picked up Nathan a while after because they needed to make food and wanted to use my kitchen. Max made delicious curry and Nathan made some rice crispy bars. My dad was watching jeopardy in the other room and one of the questions was asking which cereal brand had three elf brothers on it. Ella and I shouted RICE CRISPYS! and pointed at the box in Nathan’s hands.
Mom had to help me hem my dress because I wasn’t sure how to do it, and she was unsure as well. I sewed on a hook and eye above the zipper, put some temporary stitches in the front to keep it a little less open, and then my dress was DONE! We waited a little bit longer until my bread was out of the bread machine, got dressed, took some pictures, and headed over to Emily’s house for a feast.
When we got there the girls were all getting ready still and the guys were standing around upstairs. We stood around with them, and then Amber, when finished dressing, joined us. We decided to start eating and we all piled around the little round table with lasagna, two kinds of curry, delicious breads, and yummy things in between. I was very happy with our meal. We hung around trying to figure out when to leave. Ella had to leave and meet Max there and Bobby was in a different car than me, so we left and met up there. Max, Ella and Nathan all headed in ahead of us. I waited around with Bobby, Danny, and Amber for the girl Amber bought a ticket for. Amber was wearing a zebra dress and mask (it was a masquerade ball) and pretending to clomp about.
We got in, kick off our shoes, and danced for about three hours. I haven’t been this injured in a while. My abs, knees and throat were all sore today. It was so worth it though. We crashed at Amber’s house afterwards and fell into a cuddle puddle on her bed. I didn’t feel like going home, so I slept over. That was a ton of fun. Amber and I need to hang out more.

WELL I’m sorry I haven’t been updating. I’ll split these posts so you get two this time. I didn’t sleep at home the last two nights, so I was extremely unmotivated to post/asleep. Friday, Max and Nathan came over to my house and I worked on my dress, Nathan drew, and Max dicked around on the internet. It was Lady Gaga day, so we listened to her album a bit. After a while it was time to head over to Logans and meet up with him and Cody. Cody was really excited to take us all to this Korean place underneath the bowling alley. … UNDERNEATH THE BOWLING ALLEY. Does that seem shifty to anyone else?
All five of us piled into Cody’s truck, so that we could all go together. I got the middle spot which is always funny, especially in a truck with stick shift, and a seat that has no back. I played with the radio the whole way there and back, which I love to do. I’m big on changing stations. We got there, descended into the basement, and walked into a little restaurant. There are mirrors on the walls and fishtanks along one wall. It’s a little disconcerting, but we had fun. Cody, Max and I started playing with chopsticks. Nathan and Logan thought this was childish. That dynamic worked out great because those were the separate sides of the table. We all ordered food and started trying to identify items on the little dishes they bring out to garnish your food. I was a big fan of the seaweed one. Our side of the table ended up sharing food a lot, which was fun.
It was surprisingly good! Especially for being under a bowling alley. I think it’s called Seoul’s Gate. Check it out if you’re in Fairbanks. We drove back to Logan’s house and found some art supplies. I created a pastel drawing of a “moon” (looked like a wormhole) over a park and a lady on a bench. I like pastels because they kind of blend. …My hands were a mess. We drank a bunch of cider and then decided to go “frolic” and by that I mean go for a walk. That was fun, my legs got cold. Max was wearing my hat and Cody had my shark mittens. The moon was HUGE and we kept saying “Have you seen the moon?!”. When we all made it back we didn’t turn on the lights. Cody took my spot so I sat on the Bowflex in the corner and renamed it the Bowlax.
We were listening to music and chatting for quite some time. Cody started drawing things on my pants in chalk because my legs were near him. That was funny in the dark. Then he moved on to pen and drawing an abstract monstrosity on the top of my foot. He also wrote “I like to wear socks” in Chinese on my foot. I thought that was adorable. Especially after writing the word that equates to “wang” on my other leg in chalk. He then decided to draw on my hand because he ran out of foot space. He made what ended up being a flower and then made hilarious chunky vines that went all the way up my arm to another flower on the back of my shoulder. About halfway through this arm endeavor I realized I had to go to ball the next night and that I’d have to get this off somehow. After that we all kind of got tired and sat around in the other room. I messed around on guitar a bit (I’m really not good at all. I can play some chords.), and we looked up the chord progression to the song Nic wrote about Nathan, “Nathan the Happiest Marmot”. We made a cover video with Nathan making faces, and that was hilarious.

After blog posting for last night this morning, I finished listening to Poker Face and went to class. We had some projector issues, so class was not very informative. During my normal 1-2pm lunch break, Cody had invited me to join him at his first English Club meeting. That sounded fun, so I scooted up to the 8th floor of the Gruening building, which, by the way, is rumored as being “riot proof”. I found the area and saw Cody and Logan standing around talking… alone. We hung out and chatted another fifteen minutes and two other guys showed up. We all sat around waiting for the head guy to show up and after about half an hour of total waiting for us we all packed up and left. It was nice chatting with them either way. It was a little weird since we didn’t talk to the other two guys, but that’s alright. We can all try again next thursday. It’s ENGLISH CLUB!
We walked over to the Wood Center and Cody insisted that I join him and Nathan tomorrow going to this Korean restaurant underneath the bowling alley over by the library. He swears up and down it is the best place. I told him that would work great since I was planning on hanging out with Nathan anyway. I’m pretty enthused. Those kids are a riot. After that, poetry class was a BLAST! I love that class up and down. We read our poems out loud and I was really proud of mine. I love when that happens. I get to read other people’s work this weekend as well as create my own. After poetry was world lit, and let me tell you: there is nothing more weird than having an enthusiastic middle aged man reading egyptian love poetry out loud and giving commentary. That class is silly. I have a pile of work to do that is probably going to get done on Monday. I love my Monday buffer.
Today was my first hang out day with Nathan since he’d gotten in town, and he met me at the U and came home with me to plan our evening. He mentioned a surprise party for Sarah Sherman, and on our way to go eat food, JB called and told us it had moved to CCH. We were right there, so we dropped in. There were about nine of us there after we’d arrived. I got a peppermint mocha and Jules sat on my lap in the circle. Amber brought over a huge rice-crispy treat she’d bought at the counter and stuck a match in it. We had nothing to light it with… and that seemed like a fire hazard to me. JB realized she had a candle in an emergency pack she’d given Sarah, and stuck that in the “cake”. The matches were not “light anywhere” and did not, in fact, light when Sarah tried to do it on her pants zipper like a real lady. None of us had a lighter and we didn’t want to ask someone in the coffee shop, so Bobby ran across the parking lot to the gas station, waited in line, bought a hilariously patriotic lighter, and ran back to light the candle triumphantly. We sang loudly and she blew it out. Good times all around.
After quitting that Nathan and I went to eat at Pad Thai because we had not eaten in a while. That was delicious. I actually just realized there were leftovers in the car (luckily the car is chilly) and I moved them to the fridge. Guess what lunch is tomorrow! We drove about a bit, as teens are wont to do, and ended up back at the house. We watched Across the Universe because that poor child had never seen it. If you haven’t go do that now.
And I drove him home. Turns out… he left all his stuff here including his computer. LUCKILY he and Max are coming over tomorrow around noon and we shall party like it is friday and we aren’t in school. CAUSE THAT’S WHAT IT IS, LADIES! Awww yeah.
I’m excited for tomorrow, and I got about 2 hours of sleep last night, so I’m going to sleep now. Gnight and all my love to you, intarbuttz.
